Imposing Calistoga Residence

An old residential building located in Calistoga, California was redesigned by Strening Architects. The architects transformed the series of stucco boxes with no relationship into an amazing house. Now Calistoga Residence is a comfortable retreat on a 25 acre property. The owners are from Washington DC and they wanted a retreat from stressful daily life, here they can enjoy mountain views while they are surrounded by nature. The connection inside outside is made by large windows placed in the public areas. From the living room the couple can enjoy beautiful views and they will be for sure attracted to spend more time outside, on the poolside terrace. On the other side there are private spaces like the library where they could read or watch TV without being disturbed. On the second level are located the private spaces like the bedrooms where intimacy is provided decreasing the number of windows.
The terrace is very spacious, the perfect place for spending time with friends. Here was placed a big table made by wood, comfortable chairs and other little tables. Near is the pool and some chaise longues surrounded by natural landscape. The house is very spacious, with a modern design, imposing, it is connected with the nature through the materials used for construction stone and wood.
