Intimate Cottage Retreat by Method Design
This Cottage Home is located in New York and was transformed by Method Design construction into a fabulous contemporary second home resting in natural surroundings.
The original building dates back to the 1960s, but it was remodeled into a modern well integrated in nature retreat. It looks like a huge sculpture in a rock from the mountain. The retreat is watched by trees and stands like a candle in the forest night. The house was improved by adding a new master suite, placed on a forest of columns that reinforce an existing line of tree. The columns themselves operate as a sophisticated structural system where each tips towards a projected point at the center of gravity, giving an innovative balance, stability and equilibrium to the new addition.
The location offers a splendid view over the forest and the public areas are detailed with a rain screen of warm cedar finishes reflecting the outdoor environment in which they are situated. The indoor space in ample. The white and elegant living is separated through a fence by the kitchen, the space being well organized and compact. White is the predominant color. There are spot lights everywhere enhancing the intimacy of the house. Bug bedrooms with simple furniture opens to the beautiful landscape through large windows. The house is an invitation to admire exceptional view and to live a life in the middle of nature.
