The Urban Cabin – a Place to Find Peace and Serenity

The Urban Cabin is a beautiful space in Medina, Washington and it is designed by Suyama Peterson Deguchi. As you look from its front entrance, the house, as it is enlightened in the evening, looks like a pumpkin illuminated by a candle, or like a candle light in the wood.

It has intimacy and offers a feeling of coziness so that you become anxious to come in and see. The fresh green meadow and the little lake with water lilies makes you feel as in a fairytale, having the protection of the forest. The glass walls assure natural light and allow nature to flood the entire interior space, making you feel closer to nature, a direct participant to all its actions. The idea of keeping a tree inside your house could be crazy, but look at its branches and you’ll be in love with the way the tree touches the wooden ceiling as if it would sustain it. The living room is cozy and comfortable; the fireplace enhances the warmth and intimacy.

The kitchen, illuminated by discreet spot lights and surveyed by the tree’s branches, appears to be well equipped and intimate as the rest of the house. Following the same rules of coziness, the bedroom upstairs benefits of glass walls, in order to be in a permanent connection to the wood and it accommodates simple elegant furniture and a nice terrace where you can sit and relax in the sunlight. This is a real place to find peace and quiet!
