The Alpine Chalet – a Serene and Solid Home for Cold Winters
The alpine Chalet is a residential project designed and completed by AKB. It is located at the foot of the ski hill in southern Ontario. The house looks stable and solid, like a fir tree on the mountain, a cozy shelter on cold and stormy winters.
The modern architecture has a reductive, monolithic form that is well-situated within the landscape. The chalet is beautiful like the landscape surrounding. The style of the interior spaces is quiet and subtle, providing calm and peace among snows and, in the same time, keeping its functional aspect and offering a Zen perspective over the lifestyle. There are not many useless details; the furniture is stylish and elegant, comfortable and simple, meeting the lifestyle of its inhabitants. Most of the interiors have luminous quality and double-height space. The main source of inspiration and relaxation is the fireplace, which burns a cozy fire and allows you to dream and to relax on a comfortable sofa. The bedrooms are interconnected to each other, including their own bathroom.
The kitchen is colored and vivid, a real soul of the house. It is well equipped and elegant, a place which makes you feel like home. The chalet has not an ostentatious elegance, but a calm one, with a relaxing quality and a serene aspect of the interior spaces. A perfect place to enjoy snow!
