Beautiful Home in Wood and Concrete – Warmth and Coldness in one Touch
The house from this image is located in Wairau Valley in New Zealand and it is designed by the Parsons Architects. The residence mixes concrete with wood, unveiling a beautiful home, rich in pavilions and open spaces and mixing, in the same time, the warmth and tenderness offered by wood with the coldness of concrete.
The landscape surrounding is splendid, the eucalyptus wood being very present throughout the whole house, increasing intimacy and privacy. Wood and concrete become symbolic elements, representing the communion between house – wood – mountains. The building is looking to a big camping, different interlinked pavilions offering different areas of occupation and privacy or openness. The large swimming pool and the terrace complete the exterior décor. The interior enjoys a fluid open space, combining wood with concrete into an attempt of defining the house’s personality. Wooden walls and ceilings, floors, provide warmth which, in combination with the flames of the fireplace, melts the air inducing intimacy and coziness.
The kitchen doesn’t break the rules! It combines wood with concrete and it is well equipped and intimate, inviting you to enjoy a family breakfast. Simple furniture, warm colors and beautiful landscape are the main elements of sustaining this building making it to appear like ‘’a home”.
