The House on Chilliwack Street - Tradition Combined with Modernism
The House on Chilliwack Street is designed by Randy Bens Architect and it is located in New Westminster, a suburb of Vancouver, Canada.
The residence combines traditional elements with modern ones into a perfect fusion and a complex creation. The house is sustained by two piles coming out from water, so that it looks as if grown up from water, like a marine form of life. The upper level of the house cantilevers in two directions, complementing the lower original cantilevered portioned of the building. The exterior of the residence consists in a geometric combination of two cubes and rectangles. Inside the space is opened and large, elegant spacious. There are three ceiling heights, large windows abounding in natural lights. The living area is the heart of the entire building. It is built in grey tonalities, with white or purple décor elements, elegant and simple. It facilitates the transition between the indoors and the courtyard with the swimming pool. The kitchen is beautiful, clean and well equipped, including the dining table.
The upper floor hosts the master bedroom, simple and luminous, children’s bedroom, office and an elegant white bathroom. The house is perfect for a family, combining practical aspect with pleasant one.
