Hintonburg Home – a Model of Simplicity and Equilibrium
The Hintonburg Home was especially developed by architect Rick Shean, in order to provide a comfortable home for his family. The residence consists of two levels and is located Ottawa, Ontario in Canada.
The two volumes of the building are linked together by a contemporary-designed courtyard, a nice place to relax and enjoy fresh air. The house is ample, imposing, built in a minimalist style but succeeding to fulfill the lifestyle necessities of a modern family. The first volume contains the public spaces, with the kitchen, dining and lounge area. The kitchen is very modern and well equipped, enjoying a cozy and joyful small round wooden table with flowers, set for family and inviting them to reunite and enjoy a nice dinner. Being painted in white, it looks serene and the windows bring much natural light, relaxing the atmosphere. The second volume of the building connects simultaneously with the street and court through windows in the east and west walls.
The numerous openings serve to break down the volumes, and expand the interior spaces. All the rooms are minimalist furnished and decorated, the house being a model of simplicity and well balanced atmosphere, the overall effect being that of extreme neatness.
