Hotel Erupted from a Volcano’s Lava: Iconic Antumalala Hotel

The Antumalala Hotel was designed by Jorge Elton and is one of those hidden jewels that travelers are always delighted to discover. The hotel was a hospitable host for many personalities like Queen Elizabeth, Jimmy Stewart, and Neil Armstrong and it was recently renovated, becoming a reference spa and wellness center in Chile. The hotel is located at the foot of a smoking volcano in Chile’s Lake District, in 12 acres of lush gardens overlooking Lake Villarrica.

Being a luxuriant and modern hotel, rustic elements are combined with modernity. Rustic wood in rough table and benches, floor to ceiling windows bringing nature inside, rustic interior living spaces, wild but cozy fireplace, embedded into a stone wall, opposed to the elegance of the comfortable sofa, placed by the windows and allowing you to admire the landscape, every detail of the hotel’s rooms is a perfect combination between rustic and modern. Plenty of light, an interior swimming pool which is like a prelude for the outdoor view, cozy bedrooms in which the rustic element is combined in the same manner with the modernity into an effort to interweave
practical and pleasant aspects. The restaurant, the terraces, the beaches and the beautiful gardens guarantee perfect lake views and a relaxing escape within the Private Park and native woods.

The hotel looks like an oasis of relaxation and good taste and it gathers around and satisfies all possible exigencies.
