George Patterson Y&R by HASSELL

George Patterson Y&R asked for HASSELL to design an office interior from Melbourne, Australia. The main idea was to create an office environment that would reflect the team’s creativity but in the same time to be practical and modern. The project includes working areas, presentation spaces, informal lounges, collaboration areas and formal workstations. The building keeps from its 1900s glory the large open spaces, the Victorian columns, a glazed atrium and high ceilings. This impressive heritage architecture makes the building unique and combined with modern style the result will be more than special.

Even if the budged was modest and the building was not one designed for work the architects made their job properly. One of the most important challenges was the ceiling because were quite high so the heating, cooling and lighting were actually a problem. The heritage character was kept and the budged did not suffer too much by inserting elements that stood free in the fabric. Using removable furniture the result was a creative and functional design that allows daylight to flood the space. Even with a minimal cost they’ve got a long-term flexible space. HASSELLs transformed the building into a real office where all the employees appreciate the new design.
