8 House Designed by BIG
The 8 House residential project has been completed in Copenhagen by BIG, a Danish-based architecture company. The project has a figure-of-eight plan and it wraps around two courtyards, separated by a tunnel with communal facilities. To make use of daylight for everyone, the building is lower on the south-west corner than the rest, so this won’t be an issue for anyone.
The project has been built so you can walk or bike from the ground up to the 10th floor, because of it’s continuous cycle path and pedestrian walkway, which all residents have access to. The huge building measures 61,000 square meters and it offers 10,000 m2 for offices and retail, while it has 3 types of residential housing.
Unlike most of the buildings its size, it doesn’t look bulky or ugly, but it has a great style and it offers a great look for the city.
