The 9 April Garden by aspa
Located in Lisbon, Portugal, surrounded by impressive buildings of historical signifiance and beautiful views of the right bank of river Tagus, the 9 April Garden comes to keep alive the tradition in this area. The project team: José Maria Cumbre + Nuno Sousa Caetano from aspa in collaboration with Carolina Castro Freire created the garden also known as Albertas.
The single storey structure can be considered a bar or a terrace, it is placed on the roofscape os an existing building and it measures 308.80 sqm. It is not just a simple garden or bar, due to its position it is quite important. The environment was very important for the architects when they’ve started to create. Albertas had to integrate in this historic center. With an ephemeral character it can get people into a pleasant atmosphere, it can get them closer to the evoked moments. Its construction is not an obstacle in fornt of the amazing views, on the contrary these can be admired from each corner. This was possible because were used materials that ensured lightness, transparency and permeability. 9 April Garden is an amazing relaxing place that lets time to look back into the past or to run away into the future.
