When Architecture and Nature Interact Villa Remshagen
Carl-Johan Smedshammar in collaboration with Andres Holmberg Architects designed the Villa Remshagen that is located in Vallentuna, Sweden. Sitting on a small hill, surrounded by oak trees and a lake, the owners enjoy beautiful views. This landscape can separate the house from the community.
The interior is spacious and airy, a large hallway separates the public spaces from the private ones. A giant bookcase, integrated storage spaces are the pieces of furniture that dress the walls and make the room warmer. Beside this kind of furniture there are others interesting decorating details in each room. The chairs from the living room have a strange geometrical form, the small table that serves as support for the flower vase seems to an old trunk. This rooms and the bathroom also have a wall made by glass from the floor to the ceiling, because the landscape is incredible and the house placement ensures privacy from any angle using glass for walls was a good idea.
The exterior has a simple geometry, the house is made by two pieces in different volumes. Its simplicity made it charming and appealing, stylish. Outside, an outdoor terrace serves as relaxing place where the owners and the visitors can enjoy having a drink or meditating. And talking about visitors, near to the main residence there is a guest house with the same architecture style. Near the house a little pontoon strengthens the relation with the wild nature.
