KKL Luzern Acoustic Upgrade by WSDG
WSDG has been selected by KKL Luzern to upgrade its Electro Acoustic. The architectural acoustic team should complete the concert hall in 2012. Luzern Grand Concert Hall is one of the world’s great concert centers and it became an international architectural and cultural landmark.
Jean Nouvel is the architect that designed KKL Luzern, in one wing are located the conference and meeting room, lounges and restaurants necessary for the breaks or for latency. The hall is like a black box, here have been all kind of concerts from rock to general assemblies. Russell Johnson’s Artec designed the concert hall that has the most appreciate class acoustics and a capacity of 1800 people.
Because technology is now more advanced and KKL Luzern needs to be upgraded it was decided that the retractable electro acoustical system should be re-tuned. The concert hall is very important for the community and not only, this was the reason why an international team of acoustical design experts was requested. The quality of the sound has to match all kind of concerts typically jazz, world music, pop style and also for speeches. The upgrade process will be a complex one, it includes lots of tests for the system installation and calibration.
