Traditional Midwest Retreat by BNIM
The Midwest Retreat has been designed by BNIM, the 2011 AIA National Architecture Firm, and is located on a bucolic 700-acre site in the rolling hills of rural Iowa.
The retreat was specially designed for a dual use, both social and business gatherings. Due to its location in this clearing, but also to its form and materiality, the building echoes the agrarian typologies of the region and is elongated in an east/west direction in order to maximize daylight control and to highlight views of the pond. The space is defined as minimally as possible, while providing necessary programmatic separation.
