Marc Jacobs Tokyo Flagship Building by JaklitschGardner Architects
Jaklitsch/Gardner Architects designed the new Tokyo flagship building located on Omotesando-dori in the Aoyama shopping district, in Tokyo, Japan.
This luxurious store is designed for Marc Jacobs brand and represents the tradition of craft in Japanese construction. The 2,800 square feet project includes two main sales floors, a lower-level space with a small sales area and storage. The three story building uses a kosakubutsu element to double the visual height of the building.
The “void” zone is placed on the ground floor, it is completely transparent, opened to the street, the “rock” area is a solid form clad in striated terra-cotta and kosakubutsu is the “lantern”.
