Minimalist YSY House by AUAU
This simple yet unusually-shaped residence has been designed by AUAU architects and is located on a small hill, between a road and a dense forest, in a quiet neighborhood from Seto, Japan. The residence is bound by a jagged road on one side and a forest on the other side.
The AUAU architects are well known for the great combination of an interesting design with practical function and their dynamic pint size homes. The house it’s so appreciated that has received a Good Design Award, due to its asymmetrical form covered in a outer shell that protects the house, a great approach for its rigid site conditions. The matte white outer shell that covers the residence creates openings throughout, with expansive windows that allows the natural light and air invade the space. This two-storey residence includes a washroom, play room, three bedrooms, an elevated loft, study, and a kitchen and dining area that overlooks the floor below.
The facade is a little peeled back, creating the effect of a dynamic identity with a semi-sheltered entrance, and the roofline opens up to a large window that overlooks to the city below. It offers both openness and the privacy we’re all looking for.
