Fascinating ABC Dbayeh Department Store and Cinema Façade by nARCHITECTS
This impressive ABC Dbayeh Department Store and Cinema Façade has been designed by nARCHITECTS and is currently under construction, being build in Beirut’s most prominent department store brand.
This new project brings a new 250,000 sqf addition for the building, but also a new facade for the 200,000 sqf of the existing building. The structure is made as a group of four volumes, all of them located on a sloped site and clad with aluminium panels, two of them in dark grey and the other two in a white grey. All four of them will transform at night into a great luminous icon. On each side of the building there’s a LED backlit laser cut aluminum screen, and what remains from the aluminum cut-outs on the westernmost volume is used as a cladding element for all the remaining three volumes. The cladding varies from 2.5m to 0.5m in order to accommodate some new displays, entrances, glazing, and also canopies.
The building offers some great conditions, most of all due to its screen which offers shade for the department store and have the ability to reduce the heat gain on the building’s western exposure. The building will be finished somewhere in the late fall 2011.
