Dental Clinic with Minimalist Design by Paulo Merlini
These are images from a Dental Clinic in Oporto, Portugal, designed by Paulo Merlini. The clinic is large, white and bright, expressing total cleanliness and a feeling of peace, which is quite unusual in such places. The form, narrowness, vertical amplitude of the space and the two big glass facades placed on the main and back facade defined mainly the organization of the spaces.
The reception and waiting room is large and high, simple and clean, with a large comfortable sofa and many chandeliers coming down with elegance from the ceiling, like delicate flowers growing upside down. There is a big white box that floats in the air and minimizes the idea of being under a roof, offering a strong feeling of peace, calming down the patient and his pains. Under the stair a mirror wall creates the illusion of a broadest space solving the narrowing sensation that one could feel on entering the room. The stairs are delicate and elegant, painted in white and guiding the patient to a resting room on the upper floor. Here one can find a window placed under your feet, creating a strong relation with the ground floor.
The dentistry room accommodates modern equipment, offering you confidence in the best treatment. A large window invites you to admire the landscape while being treated, forgetting the pain and all your troubles.
