A Romantic Family Nest Revealing the Beauty of Nature

The Case Inlet Retreat for a family in Washington Square is nestled into a forest along the eastern edge, opening to a view of the Olympic Mountains and the Puget Sound. It is designed by MW Works Architecture+Design. The house is a perfect family home, opened to the forest on one side and to the lake on the other side.

A large romantic terrace prefaces the coziness of the interior, allowing family members to sit on a chair and admire the beautiful sunset on the lake, or just dream and relax. The exterior stairs introduce you to a romantic landscape over the lake and the forest vegetation. Anchored by a weathered cedar clad bedroom wing, a concrete wall projects the living and the dining spaces into the dense forest and towards the view. A sort of deck slips from inside the kitchen to an open meadow, separated by large sliding glass doors which extend the interior towards the forest. Floor to ceiling glass walls open the living space to outdoors and allow light to come in, enlarging the living space horizon.

Simple furniture, a stove in one corner of the room and a bunch of logs for a beautiful warming fire in the cold nights, a romantic view over the lake while you sit in perfect relaxation on the couch, small clean and cozy bedroom with an opening to the bathroom to give users the ritual of bathing within the forest, these are details defining the personality and coziness of a real home for one simple family.
