Country Estate Impressing by Contrasts

This is a country estate designed by Roger Ferris & Partners. The project developed the original Wiley house into a new structured building, in order to integrate this structure into the spectacular landscape around the house.

The new art gallery, a solid black contemporary reconstruction from a barn offers a counterpoint to the old transparent house. The pool house and the garage are projected into the hillside. The reconstruction of the house makes it appears strange and new, never boring, always astonishing. The wide living space with floor to ceiling glass walls offers space and allows the beautiful landscape to enter the room. The furniture is modern, and simple, minimalist, incorporating a library, too, into the living space. Looking from the outside
of the black rearranged barn you wouldn’t expect to find an art gallery inside!

The appearance of this part of the building is a little shocking and it induces you a strange feeling of mystery. The residence is an impressive construction which imposes by contrasts and also by the splendid landscape surrounding it.
