Dark-Cladded Mountain House Camouflaged between Trees

A great an bold project this time located in the heart of a forest in Karuizawa, Japan. This residence has been designed by Miurashin Architect + Associates, and being located on a sloping terrain it features several housing levels.

The first level is represented by a pavilion reached via a metal bridge that welcomes family and friends. The interior design is very warm and contemporary, dressed in wood via a top floor pavilion and features some great vertical windows and cladding that tries to imitate the tall trees around, creating a strong connection between the architecture and the wild nature outside.

The living and entertaining spaces can be found on the middle floor, while the private spaces are located on the lower ground. The rooftop is quite different, being similar with a sloping staircase made by wood, a place where you can enjoy the forest views and the surroundings. The residence features a very imposing structure in the forest, with its mysterious dark-cladded presence and its windows creates a beautiful mirroring effect of the surrounding forest. The mountain residence connects with the surroundings being anchored to the slope in three places.
