Amazing Green Complex by Foster + Partners

The Green Complex building was designed by Foster + Partners and will be a new stunning building that will add an extra green color to the skyline of Singapore, and will be located between Singapore’s Marina Center and the Civic District.

This is another sustainable project that extends on 150,000 square meter and takes care of the use of alternative energy sources. The Green Complex by Foster + Partners project was the winning design from an international competition, Singapore’s new eco-complex pushing the green envelope from top to bottom in this sophisticated downtown design. This building will fill an entire city block and will offer commercial, residential, retail, hotels, and a ‘green’ link to an Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station.

And because it’s a sustainable building, the facades of the building will be fitted with solar cells and the slanted facades are designed to catch the wind and direct it downwards for natural cooling of the ground floor spaces. To help control solar gain, direct sunlight will be filtered through canopies rising from the base of the entire complex to the exposed east and west elevations of the towers. These ribbon-like canopies will provide renewable on-site energy with integrated thin-film solar arrays. The “green” building will have vertical green spaces, and extensive sky gardens in order to make the building more green and to bring natural vegetation and ambient temperature moderation.
