S House by Tanju Özelgin
S House is a wonderful house located in Cubuklu Valley from Istanbul, Turkey. It is a forested area of the district of Beykoz where were located modern houses designed by Emre Arolat Architects. The Turkish interior designer Tanju Ozelgin was chosen for this project in 2011. He had to listen to the owners initiatives, to combine it pleasantly with the natural setting. With simple lines and directly approach to space he got a simple and functional architectural style. He was inspired by nature and he also used natural stone and wood textures making the interior space the extension of the exterior one. Because the owner wanted a modern look with natural elements, the architect hid the technologies and was able to create a cosmopolitan urban seating.
The house has 400m2 in the interior and 480m2 outside including the garden and the landscape. From the entrance you got the feeling that is a special house, situated on a sloped area, the entrance is on the top floor. On every level the concept is different but melting with each other, forming an impressive look. The materials were carefully chosen to complete the modern style influenced by nature, were used round stones placed under the open-stepped staircase, wood panels on the rear walls or for the floor in the garden. These organic elements are very important for the warm atmosphere of this house.
