Tower block complex in Nanjing, China

After the International Competition, Nanjing Financial City Construction and Developement co. ltd. had chosen the winner: Hamburg-based practice Gmp Architekten. They presented their project for “tower block complex of ten buildings” that should be placed in Nanjing, China and impressed through the original and sustainable structure. On the area measuring 80,000square meters will be some highrises with an internal area of 500,000 square meters. The area will include some green spaces also not only steel structures. A 14 meter wide river and a 28 meter wide green belt traverses the site making the connection with the underground transportation line.
The inside spaces receive light from the north and south large windows while on the east and west the sun is blocked through vertical elements in order to reduce solar heat. There is no need of protective glazing or artificial light sources in the daytime due to the double skin enclosure. The technology used reduced a little the cost but ensures a sustainable structure and the comfort of the occupants. The seven towers that were placed out the ring will form a clockwise arrangement. The project will have a great success, it will impress for sure the habitants.
