Media Centre Oberkirch by Wurm + Wurm Architects

Media Center Oberkirch from Germany is designed by Wurm  + Wurm Architects.  The construction started in November 2008 and was completed in February 2010. The 2100 square metres building is divided in three parts: 1000 square metres for the media center, 190 square metres for the event space and 400 square metres for the town archive.

An organically formed staircase centrally positioned connects the three levels, this zone is meant for movement and communication. The windows are large enough to be considered floor-to-ceiling glass walls, it is an important aspect because the building will be filled with natural light and views from all the city will be captured. In this reading or stay zones the same piece of furniture can be used as a table or bench. Is easy to find a comfortable place on the terrace or inside where you can enjoy reading.

The center has an area special organized for children, here they can spend the time reading or playing. It is safe and comfortable so the parents shouldn’t worry about their baby. The furniture from this area is colored in red, orange, green while the rest of the building, the walls are painted in white.
