Impressive SkyCourt by KÖZTI Zrt – Tima Stúdió
This amazing SkyCourt was designed by KÖZTI Zrt – Tima Stúdió architects and is located in Budapest, Hungary. The building is based on a modular arrangement concept typical in the Seventies.
The concept idea of the complex was all about the extension of the original building, the creation of a new structure that could create an union of the two modular terminals into one organic unit. The structure of the SkyCourt is composed of three independently operated terminals diagonally arranged around a common centre. The 2A terminal displays in a great way the design philosophy of the complex organized by a diagonal centre-line, and the 2B terminal’s layout keeps the diagonal arrangement and clear symmetry at several points.
The design methodology attempts to create the total integration of the modules. The perspective of this project is focusing on the new hall built between the existing structures, which will not only influence the external appearance of the complex, but it will also determine the aspect of the internal spaces too. The roof structure reflects the internal functional arrangement and operation of the new Terminal, while the curved two-third closed roof surface emphasize the importance of the two existing passenger halls and their main entrances.
