Mishima House by Keiji Ashizawa Design
Mishima House, located in downtown Tokyo was designed by Keiji Ashizawa Design. It is a single family residence constructed with a light and airy atmosphere. Although sunlight was maximized, the privacy was not a forgotten factor so the architects enlarged the space and increased privacy using steel frames.
Tokyo is famous for its high-density population and the lack of privacy this is the main reason why the house was constructed emphasizing the privacy. In an uncommon structure on the first and second floor there are placed the bedrooms and bathrooms while on the third floor are placed the kitchen, study and living room. On the first look it is a little bit backwards but if you think at the sunlight problem, how to use it efficiently the structure can be considered a really good solution.
The third floor has high ceilings due to them it was possible to have a lofted office above the kitchen and living room. Either the kitchen or the office are not constraint. The house is special in many ways besides the ones listed above it has to be add the industrial/modern feel of the space. Impressive and original the residence can be considered the perfect house for a Tokyo inhabitant.
