Modern art by Nuno de Matos
Nuno de Matos is an abstract artist that is born in Barreiro, Portugal. Since he was a child he was impressed and inspired by the French textile designer Jean Lurçat. He experimented also Abstract Expressionism and his work is mostly inspired by the graffiti on the streets in Lisbon’s Bairro Alto and Barcelona’s Barri Gotic districts during the ’90s.
This delicate art with vibrant canvases and luminescent spirals represents the dance of a lyrical whimsy. Volubilis can be called a color-saturated series of urban calligraphy.
